R Litter Dam is Florence v. Den Drei Teufeln (Flo Flo). Flo is a 4 year old black and white female with very special talents.  Flo is the consummate versatile hunting dog in that she has that rare balance, being equally talented in all areas.  Her searching and pointing skills are excellent as are her retrieving skills on land and water.  These skills have been demonstrated time and again in 3 different testing venues.  Flo has earned 11's in nose, pointing, search, tracking, desire and cooperation in JGHV, and the Versatile Hunting Dog Federation tests.  She was also tested in the NAVHDA Utility test and earned a prize one with 201 points out of 204 possible.  Her hips are certified HD free by PennHIP and rated at .21 L and .21 R which is greater than 90 percent of the dogs in the database.  She is 59 cm tall and 60 cm long weighing in at 55 pounds.  Her coat and conformation are very good with her coat being medium length and dense and harsh.  Flo is a highly intelligent dog and is an absolute pleasure to train and hunt behind.

We came across Doc last summer at a Versatile Hunting Dog Federation Test (VHDF) where we met him and his owner Kurt Kraft.  Doc ran an impressive AHAE test and scored 174 points earning 11's in search and pointing.  Doc scored 10's in the rest of the ability subjects including the search behind the duck where he made an impressive blind water search and long track over open water. Click here to see Doc's complete VHDF test scores.  Doc comes from Shelby, Montana where he and Kurt spend most of their fall chasing Huns and Sharptail on the Montana Highline.  Doc is super friendly around kids and pets and he a has a very biddable temperament for such a hard driving field dog.  Doc comes from a long line of Three Devils dogs including the famous Salty Pete V Rahnhaus in his pedigree as well as many other National Champions and Dual Champions.  In addition to being a conformation Champion, Doc has placed in many National Bird Dog Challenges, as well as being a state and national finals qualifier.  Doc's hips are rated Good by OFA and his thyroid has been cleared as normal.

The P3 Litter Dam is Delta vom Bandorfer-Forst (Rabe).  We imported Rabe from Germany in the spring of 2007.  Rabe is now a highly driven and very powerful 4 year old female.  Rabe has excellent aptitude in all areas of hunting.  Perhaps a review of her test history is the best way to promote her skills.  At a very young 8 months she was tested in the VHDF Hunting Aptitude Evaluation where she scored a slightly above average 57 points.  Her search had not yet developed at that age, but she earned a rare 11 in Water Aptitude.  By the following spring after a full hunting season, her skills had matured and she earned 72 points in the VJP with 11's in Nose, Search, and Cooperation.  By that fall she was mostly trained, and she earned 177 in the HZP with 11's in Search and Pointing.  She was also tested in the  VHDF Advanced Hunting Aptitude Evaluation were she earned 170 points with 11's in Water Search Behind the Duck and in Desire.  Finally, after another hunting season, in 2009 we prepared Rabe for the VHDF Performance Evaluation.  The VHDF Performance Evaluation  is without a doubt the  most difficult, one day, versatile hunting dog evaluation in North America.  It requires 3 back to back grueling water subjects, and a nerve racking one hour field search with a brace mate where backing and complete steadiness is required. Click on the above link and read the PE rules if you doubt the degree of difficulty of this test.  Few dogs can make it through the entire test without falling apart in one of the test subjects. Rabe showed her strength of balance between desire and cooperation by earning 214 points with 11's in Independent Water Search, Desire, and Steadiness and Manners.  We are proud to say that 214 points is the highest score earned to date in this event.  We ask a great deal of our versatile dogs.  Strong desire and cooperation, if well balanced, is the key to being able to train these dogs for so many different conflicting tasks at such high levels. Rabe epitomizes that balance and is destined to be yet another great dog in our program.  Rabe is 59 cm tall and 59 cm long; she has a sweet disposition around dogs and people; her coat is medium short and medium dense;  her conformation is rated very good; and her hips are rated HD free by Germany and by PennHIP.  Her  PennHIP DI is L.35 and R. 30 placing her in the middle of the 70th percentile.  Rabe was bred to Doc, described below.

Tilly is out of a long line of Three Devils wirehairs and she comes to us from Emily, Mike, and Mary Stafford of Nampa, Idaho.  Emily, Mike, Tilly (solid liver), and Tundra are pictured above.  Tilly is another typical Three Devils dog that has outstanding abilities on land and water.  Mike and I have shot hundreds of ducks over Tilly and she has loved every minute of it since she was a pup.  Mike shoots hundreds of Chukar over Tilly and Tundra (his other Three Devils GWP) as well as numerous Blue grouse, Huns, Valley quail, and Pheasants.  Tilly is VHDF tested and has scored 54 points in the HAE with 11 in search and 10 and nose.  It should be noted that the 54 point total score is minus 10 points for the optional water test. Click here to see Tilly's HAE scores.   While hunting over Tilly it soon became clear that she had a great deal to contribute genetically to the breed.  In 2009, I asked Mike to run Tilly in the VHDF AHAE test so that she could meet all of our breeding requirements.  Mike showed up at the test without knowing much about what was going on.  Tilly ran a 172 point AHAE test that day with absolutely zero formal training for the event.  A testament not only to her ability and Mike's common sense training methods, but to the design of the VHDF system which strives to identify versatile dogs with above average hunting aptitudes. Tilly scored all 10's in the "Ability" subjects of the AHAE and lost a few points for lack of polish in some of the trained subjects.  Click here to see Tilly's AHAE scores.  Tilly has had her conformation and structure rated by the VHDF  Conformation Evaluation and she scored Very Good overall with category ratings of Excellent in Head, Back, Forequarters, Hindquarters, and Coat; Very Good in Movement; and Good in Chest.  Tilly's hips are certified HD Free by Penn HIP with a left DI of .41 and a right DI of .27 which puts her in the top half of the breed for dogs evaluated by Penn HIP.

Q3 Litter Sire:

Hunhaven Chukar

German Wirehaired Pointer, Chukar is having a new litter of pups, contact hunhaven kennel for more information.

Hunhaven Chukar is a direct son of the famous Three Devils Dog Salty Pete V. Rahnhaus. Chukar has many other Hall of Fame Three Devils Dogs in his pedigree such as Three Devils Gustav NA Prize I, UT Prize I and VC Three Devils Chukar NA Prize I, UT Prize I.  Chukar is now approaching 11 years of age yet continues to look and act like a 3 year old.  I have hunted behind Chukar hundreds of times afield and in the marsh over the years and he is without a doubt one of the best wild bird dogs in the country.  Chukar has been tested in VHDF  and NAVHDA and impressively scored 180 points in the intensely difficult VHDF Performance Evaluation.  Click here to see Chukar's full PE Scores.  Chukar was rated very good in the VHDF Conformation and Structure Evaluation.  He has no disqualifying faults, and his hips are about as tight as you can get in the German Wirehair breed.  Rated by PennHIP at L .27 R .23.  The combination of Chukar's very tight hips with Flo's .21 hips, should produce outstanding longevity in the field.  Chukar comes to us from Chuck and Blanche Johnson of Bozeman, Montana.  You can read all about Chukar and see more pictures of him and his other pups on their website at http://www.hunhaven.com/index.php.
